I know this is getting redundant, but I can't help myself. I keep going there and I just keep finding stuff. So, a ...., as soon as I get into the woods and climb up the hill (actually guys this is a forest, not some corner wooded lot) whamo, high tone 29. Turns out to be a part of a Sterling spoon. 14.7 grams for you silver bugs out there. Says PAT'd 20 The Cowell & Hubbard... rest is gone. Looked for it. No

Then a 1920 Merc pretty worn and looks like it was in a fire. Camp or forest I don't know. Also found a couple of wheats around it, but pretty toasty.

Then a ways away, I get a screwy but solid nickel signal that was too high a tone. I dig out a 1939 Jeff. Re-sweep the hole and get another nickel signal but even higher tone. 2" down in the side of the hole about 1 inch over, War Nickel.

I almost afraid to go back to the place! Chuckle Going to have to change vehicles or have somebody drop me off or wear different clothes or something. Maybe one of those Groucho glasses, mustache and nose deals. This is nuts!

Have fun out there and HAPPY HUNTING!!

Thanks Tony. This is getting scary. I'm going to try some new settings that Leo suggested. Maybe get the Delta out for a whirl too.

I don't think it's getting redundant AT ALL. Spots like that one are pretty rare nowadays, so enjoy it, milk it for every last drop, and post even the tiniest morsel of found history from there, Ed Yes

A lot of us who are patiently waiting for fall to come, are living vicariously through you...including me Happy

Are you encountering much iron or trash there, or is it clean, for the most part? Two suggestions...

If/when the well starts to run dry there, I'd pop on a bigger coil and go over the place again. You'll get what you missed the first time due to depth issues, and also stuff you might have skipped. In addition, maybe trying screening there, too. If you're finding that much with a detector, there might be even older goodies too deep for a detector.

Thanks Will and Joe.

I'll try that Joe. There is some mineralization but not much compared to some sites. Low to moderate nulling. The trash is about normal in spots. Zero in others. Can lids, an occasional mason jar lid, pop/beer bottle caps, foil and tin plates and the ever present pull tabs. A lot of bullets, shell casings and headstamps but I'm thinning them out. It's quieted down a lot since I first started there, but my back gets sore toward the end and I start cherry picking.
