anybody have any experience with this harness or one of the other brands?
Will be getting a 17" coil and maybe looking for relief from the weight.

I never used a Pro swing 45 but I do use the GPX 4800 and it has a bungy strap that goes on the harness and that helps a lot I have it set to hold the detector up a little so I just have to put a little down pressure on it. The only thing I don't like about it is being attached to the detector. That is why I like the 3030 is the wireless headphones so I can sit my detector down and go talk to my friends or land owners.

I'll have a look. at the GPX 4800
I agree that wireless is the way to go, did not have that with my Safari but learned quickly how to adjust with the wire.
The 3030 wireless is the way to go for sure.

So your setup is homemade then?

No Mine is not homemade it is what comes with the 4800, but it is pretty close to the easy swing. I forgot to tell you in the message when I dig everything at trade sites I use the GPX 4800 which gets it all and smalls, But it is expensive and not for taking to the parks
I have not used the 17 inch coil but I had a friend get one and he uses it in the water and gets great depth

I have used a swing aid with both the etrac and CTX large coils but saw no reason to drop the bucks on another overprice Minelab accessory. By using the padded strap from an old back pack , a plastic washer from an old p-trap and $4 of 1/4" bungi cord from Home Depot and a snap I was able to make one that works every bit as well without being so cumbersome and restrictive. I have a friend who wears the pro swing and a mil spec vest with all his gear and he looks like he's going on a special ops skydiving mission. One quick unsnap and you can walk away from the detector too.
Save your money and make your own.

I hunted a few times with a guy who used the Minelab harness. This fella was a huge, tall Russian, fit as a fiddle, and he would hunt for 7 or 8 hours straight, except for a small snack break. Amazing. Not sure if the harness had anything to do with his hunting longevity, but I have a funny feeling it did.

I've never used one, but if you believe it'll help you, pick one up or make one like Dusty said. Minelab's are heavy, and they feel like you're lugging around an anvil after a few hours. If you can squeeze even a few extra hours of swing time in very week due to the harness, it's money well spent, IMO.

There is an inexpensive one called Detector Buddy that looks interesting.
