Cap Badge Royal Engineers

hi ya
went out for a couple hours this afternoon ..nothing really exciting found.
few crusty coppers and a few bullets not worth showing ...was about to give
up as a bad day ..and got a nice cap badge .....but to my embarrassment
i managed to clip it with my spade ( as marked in picture ) would have been furious
if it was a hammered coin...

about the same on my end, few buttons here and there. many of the items i dig may be military but hard to say without further research. the area i dig has mainly colonial era relics, however i have also been pulling up a few civil war era items as well.
a little bit of history from a few different eras, keeps things interesting ...
