I went detecting with Joe for 4 hours on Sunday to an area we've done several times previously. In the whole 4 hours I was just going for deep signals and only dug 2 signals! A 1907 Barber and 1918 Merc! I've been detecting for 29 years and I've never hunted that long and dug only 2 coins and both were silver! A new first for me.
Gerry

I'll try and post pics as soon as I can figure out how!

Congrats on the finds Gerry! I honestly cannot say I've been out that long and only dug 2 signals. 2 Silver's yes, but a bunch of stuff in between. I can say that running the machine the way I am now, in that period of time I may only dig 10 or 12 signals tops. Seems that the longer you use the machine the more you cherry pick because you know by tone and digital what is in the ground. Although there are exceptions such as real trashy parks.

Well as most know i am not a coin shooter,,i have had very long periods of time of not hearing a thing. Sometimes i think there is something wrong with my detector,so drop the shovel and confirm its working fine.. For me the woods might have been jusr that WOODS

Detecting is more than a hobby, it is a passion

Yeah, that was very odd. But who cares, as the only 2 that you DID dig happened to be good ones! Chuckle I need to get on that program quick Yes Good score, and it's nice having a head start on the season.

Oh yeah that happens often enough. I can spend hours in my Loyalist field and only dig one signal. Usually ends up being colonial junk, like scrap copper.

Nice finds! I would call that being very selective. I sometimes listen for a whisper but it normally as I'm hunting. I'm like wait, threshold changed, or this one sounds softer / deeper and a lot of times it is nice. I'm anticipating something silver or at least old. Good job on finding those sweet deep ones!
