It Broke Me!

It was a hot sonofabitch here in NJ, today! 88 with inferno type humidity. I thought I'd be able to hunt most of the day, however, between the heat & the rock hard ground, Mother Nature broke me after about 4.5 hours. Got a donut hole, except for a few wheats. Yesterday though...

Was a good one Yes I'm getting my new lesche any day now (thought it would be here today), so, I hit Home Depot to pick up a temporary digger, to use today. I get an Ames for $9.87, then head to the register. They only had one actual person behind a cashier, the rest were those self pay things, which I HATE using because something always seems to freeze or break when I put my money in. Head to the only live persons line, but, there's a guy in front of me with a ton of shit (2X4's, paint cans, etc.), so...

Reluctantly, I go to one of the self pay registers & do my business. With tax the digger came to $10.18. I put $11.00 in, and not only did it go smoothly (for once, lol), I even got a nice surprise back in my change Happy

Btw, I never used an Ames digger before. They are GOOD!!! Built like steel, very sturdy, comfortable to hold. Not a lesche obviously, but, it DOES give it a good run for the money Wink

Joe

That's a rare find indeed.  Silver from an electronic machine.  I don't use them self checkouts.  They take away jobs and make you work for free.  I went into a pharmacy store one day and I was looking for a cashier.  They didn't have any.  A woman came over and said you can go right there pointing to a self checkout.  She was an employee so I had her ring it for me and I handed her the money.  I couldn't believe they didn't have a cashier.  I never went to that store again.

I categorically REFUSE to use those self serve check outs.  why should I to do their job and not receive a substantial discount for my troubles!  Bad enough that over here we have to pay $.05/ea for plastic bags or bring our own.

Located in Durham region Ontario.  Always looking for local md'rs to hunt with.

Joe,

Take em any way you can get em!! That Ames will do the trick! Just don't overtax it. Ground here is getting hard too. Out today with more clad and 4 wheats, one a 44S which was a surprise. Got an old large serving spoon without the handle at 11 inches, think it was plated at one time. Only went up to 72 or 3 today and after work was a very pleasant walk in the park. Off tomorrow afternoon and going to hit it again. Nice weather coming at you shortly.

Your 106 with no humidity is roughly equivalent to our 90 with high humidity. I will give you this though...

It's probably a LOT hotter than 106 while you're up there tarring those roofs, than it is in my air conditioned office at work Rofl

Joe drive down to Georgia it's almost always humid as hell here you know it's bad if the gnats and skeeters stick to you like your a fly trap!! But I wouldn't ever want your guys winters! That's my prime digging season when there's a foot of snow in your area.
