.jpg  1411931100_tn_coins 008.JPG (Size: 78.18 KB / Downloads: 20) I've been detecting over 25 years and I have to say this is probably the worst summer so far. Started off with a bang finding a couple of beautiful Barbers and a near mint 1891 Seated dime. Found a few more silvers after that and hit a dead end until this last week. I don't know if it was the places we hunted, the VERY dry ground or the high temps and humidity but I couldn't find anything worthwhile. Joe (NJNYDIGGER) was disgusted too but at least he was pulling out a silver almost every trip. Anyway, I finally had a couple of decent hunts last week. On the first one I got the Canadian 1906 large cent and a couple of wheats. Friday Joe and I hit an area that  a lady who stopped to see what we were doing told us was used for ice skating. I managed to pull the 2 Mercs, a Buffalo nickel, 11 wheats and what I think is a weight for a small scale and these tags with numbers on them (any ideas what they are?). Hopefully with the cooler weather and maybe some rain, I'll close out the year with some better finds. Gerry

Nice digs Yes

but yeah - I'd say the dry conditions have a part in not finding much

the old sayin = "it's hard to find siver when it's dry" rings true

your machine only picks up on things at 1/2 the depth in dry cond. VS moist/wetter soil...

We WILL rebound, captain!!! We've got some good spots up our sleeves for the fall, and hopefully the agua situation will improve soon, so, I'm counting on a BIG close to our season Wink

Got some wet coming Tuesday & Wednesday. Let's hit the merc spot on Thursday.

Yeah those are some nice coins.  I was out detecting Saturday and the ground was rock hard everywhere.  Even in the woods.  All I dug was canslaw, pulltabs, and bottle caps.  Probably my worst day ever.  Why hasn't it been raining?

I know what you and Joe are going though. I'm here in North Jersey also without rain, the heat over the summer and just not getting out as much. Better days are coming.
