Old coal mine camp/farm finds

Buttons, lead and goodies
The owner said that there was a row of coal miner shacks on the property in the mid to late 1800's. Several years ago, her grandson metal detected it for "hours" and found "a lot of coins and buttons" only to have them stolen out of his truck. This is the place where I found the Dandy buttons and I think a couple civil war buttons.

Holy christ that's a LOT of buttons. Nice score. Did you find those all in one hunt, or several outings? Regardless, appears to be a killer spot you have there Yes

Several outings. That's the little field(2 acre), but it's where the house and the coal miners shacks were. The shacks were supposed to continue into the next field(10-12 acres) but I haven't really found much over in it, of course I've never really hunted it yet. I need to hurry up and hunt it before they plant it.

RelicMedic told what that was in my post under "what is it" section. I thought it was cool when I dug, even more when he told me what it was!

Wow , I hope you get the time to detect the heck right out of those fields before the planting starts.
Thanks for sharing them with us.

I've been doing some reading about areas with a lot of nails/ trash, which both my spots have, so I just bought a Nel snake coil. Took it out today for a couple hours and found a few items hiding among the trash, melted lead, couple little round balls and a couple more buttons . I did have trouble when I'd pull a plug out, the signal would disappear on several holes. I'm sure it's me.
