quick relic hunt w/ my son.

My niece is getting married this weekend, so my son was able to get a few days off from fighting the King fire. I was at work and had not seen him yet, when my buddy Dan texted me,telling me of a small spot in the ghetto was ready to be hit. I called my son and told him to meet us there. My son got a 1858 fatty and abig ole minnie ball (58 ca Ron?). I got a couple round balls, the smaller bullet,a couple cool buttons, leadfigure and 1916-s wheat. Good to detect with my son, if only briefly.

Good variety, congrats on the Fatty and the .58. Also good to hear your son is out of harms way, at least for the weekend.

First ... very happy you got to spend some time detecting with your son.
i know that eased your mind a bit . really cool ...

now to the finds : AWESOME ... that lead figure is really interesting, does it appear to be a carved minnie possibly made by a board soldier, or a molded toy.
that button is sweet, gotta give us a close up, looks to have some kind of really cool design on it.
and gotta love pulling those old bullets, those are always cool to find ...
looks like you hade a great day based on the finds.
but hay thats a no brainer, you where out detecting with your son again,
so even if you found squat it was a reat day ...

glad to hear hes doing good ... our prayers are with all of them always ...

Ray, I'm not Ron but that looks like a .69 cal to me.
Glad you got out with your boy.  Mine is 20 so I know that was a relief for you.

Great finds!

Rock on!

Glad you and your boy got some time together.  Some cool finds too.  The 58 fatty I can't see very good in the pic.  If that's an Indian they started in 59.
