two 14k rings, a few months apart

Hi guys,

Found a 14k ring with diamonds in December.  Also found a 1896 IH cent around that time, different hunts, different locations.  Both were found with my Fisher 1280X Aquanaut while shallow water hunting.
Going into 2015, I decided to try to increase my gold finds by digging more lower conductors.  Two weeks ago, while searching an athletic field, I got a foil signal on my CZ7a Pro, and two inches down was a gold ring with diamonds.  Another 14k, the jeweler man says diamonds on both rings are real.  Both rings are very small size, they barely go on the end of my little finger.
Found the brass knuckles a couple of days ago.  They might come in handy if I don't break my silver slump soon !  LOL

Sweet rings and great knuckles. A buddy of mine found a pair of knuckles at a old fairgrounds. Pretty odd find.

Super Gold Finds!  I always wondered how the 1280 would hit gold being it's a super low frequency machine.

Nice rings! Those knuckles bring me back to my youth in Brooklyn. No weapons back then, when it came to settling a beef, we used our hands. The knuckles were called "equalizers", as we used them if we had to tumble with someone bigger than us...it would level the playing field a bit, lol.

Do you use the 1280 in saltwater? It's primarily known as a fresh water unit, but there are hunters who say it works very well in the salt. It's a great machine. Two rings within such a short amount of time is PHENOMENAL, and they both have nice stones, too Yes

Nice job, the IH looks like it's in great shape.

khouse, the 1280X will miss on the smaller gold items.  Several years ago, I was shallow water hunting a fresh water lake.  Right where the water met the sand, I eyeballed a small gold ring half hidden in the sand.  I ran my coil over it and got no response.  I dropped my discrimination from 3 to 2 and still no response.  So, i would have missed that ring if I had not eyeballed it.  The 1280X seems to do OK on the medium and larger gold items.    Discrimination and sensitivity settings will probably be a factor also.

njny digger,

Thanks for the reply !   I have not used the 1280X in the salt water, only fresh water lakes and rivers.  From what I have read, it is not real popular in the salt water.  But a few people seem to do OK with it.  It's older brother the CZ21 seems to be a good fit for a lot of people who do the salt water.

Nice catch on both rings and the IH! Gold is a tough one. You bet on the foil signals and 1 out of 300 is gold. But you got a dig it if you want it. Great finds!Yes
