Pulled up a paper thin gold colonial era brooch or pin.
there are no visible markings on the front,
front is in pretty bad shape.
the back still has the pin hinge and loop
went to peek in the hole again and saw what looked like an eyeball looking back
up at me. thought i had dug too far.
the second Item is the top nipple of an 18th century British slip ware
ceramic pot lid ...  looked just like an eyeball in the hole ... 

if anyone can better ID or recognizes the brooch that would be great.

i have been wrong before, but i am pretty sure that what i have in my hand is gold.
here`s a few cleaner pics . it is a gold back of a brooch likely a back plate as this piece is thinner than paper .

not the value of the piece i found ...
i cannot clean it any more to satisfy your thoughts.
as it will break it is extremely thin. the back loop and hinge are gold.
the back plate is a thin strip of gold that looks as if it was the backing of a brooch.
could be plated, i wasnt splitting hairs on that. if it is plated, it is still the back plate off a colonial era gold brooch . however the corrosion is wiping right off to reveal the entire back as solid. without holes in the "gold plate" or gold . still fun to find either way. in 20 years of detecting from the mountains of Spain Italy all they way over here to sunny Florida. i have found quite a few odd balls. that didnt look the way i knew they should.
