pulled up another silver plate spoon.

pulled up a flat button, nothing special about the front. but the backmark if ID`d right
is pretty interesting. it reads " * GILT * E * C * DELAVAN * "

Edward Cornelius Delavan dob - 1793 - 1871 was a New York business man who was heavy in the pre civil war era anti liquor movement . and devoted much of his life to the temperance movement ... not sure if this is the right ID but the only E C Delevan
that fits the possible time era of the button ... any ID help welcome ...
also pulled up another rusted out pocket knife, think this is # 5 from this site .
the end of the knife appears to have a scrolling or floral pattern, and would have been a pretty nice looking knife .
and a few scraps for the junk box ....
