Hi,

What do you Guys do with your findings? Do you document or catalog them? And what do you do if you are not sure how much it is worth or how old it is?
My clad coins go towards other detecting gear . The valuables are hoarded . I do not document my stuff but do like to keep track of my silver coin numbers from start to end of the year . If your unsure of what or how old your find is you can post up your find and ask on here or any of the many other forums on the net .
So I may be asking a question with an obvious answer, but how do you guys go about reporting findings on your taxes? Do they offer any kind of deductions or write offs for this kind of thing?

The obvious answer is "we don't report anything," but I'm just poking for a different answer Shy
Ok so you find a one hundred dollar bill in the gutter of the street . Would you pay taxes on that ? This is not a job it's a hobby !

LMAO, Mike. BTW, after you finish paying taxes on that hundred, I suggest you take all of your finds over to the antiquities board in England & offer to do a split with them :P

Cutler, you're a greenhorn, I know, but, you DID deserve a tongue lashing on that one :P

Certainly not, I would never do that Angry

I have had a family member who was audited once though, complete nightmare.. Just terrible. I would never want someone to go through that, especially if they aren't an expert. Cause its all so damn complicated lol
