Found this yesterday, its a 36th Nat'l Encamp't 1902 Grand Army of the Republic Veteran 1861-1866 Medal.(civil War The encampment was held in Washington DC Oct. 6-10 1902.Some one must have lost the middle part and put a 1909 penny in it, what I marked ( see photo) Below are photo's of what it should look like .

Ed, No other marking, they were given to the veteran's that went to the encampment. In my researching there are many type for army, navy, women services, union and conf. medals .

Bob, that's a stunning find! Just think, that was bestowed upon someone that had the balls to stand up & fight for our country! Those are not easy to find, and I'll be adding it to our banner
