Ray what part of the United States do you live ? There's lot's of snakes here in Texas and Louisiana. You get used to them. One time I was in Louisiana duck hunting tromping through the marsh. It was about 35 degrees and you would think snakes would be in hibernation. I took a step and heard a hiss. It was a water moccasin ready to strike. I was about 8" from stepping on him. Not wanting to shoo away the ducks I took my shotgun and base balled him.
Northern California...know what you mean Kajun...grew up in Columbus,Ga. Moccasins suck!

Couldn't even spot the devil in the photo at first glance, they sure can blend in. Yeah, that woulda got my ticker beating like a pack of firecrackers, for sure!
