It looks to be copper maybe red brass. It is 1'' wide about 3/16'' thick. from a site that from what I gather was a logging/Railroad town from the late 1800's. The under growth was so thick hard to swing the coil. Will be going back this fall/winter as there is old foundations there I haven't found yet.

Sure does look like a balance beam from a scale! Good luck on the trip back. Sounds like a great location.

Could be. I found a chunk of something like that before. Don't know what it was.
