Found this today at about 4 inches in hard clay. (And that was it fellas!) I think it's a transit ocular. Anyway, I sent an inquiry along with this picture to a fella in Colorado who restores old transits. It was found about 80 yards out in the woods from an old stone and iron bridge for a old railroad line that CSX still uses to this day. When I get a response from this guy I'll update!

Yes Will, but just light. It's focused for another lens in front of it.

That's a pretty cool find Ed. Now just go out and scope the area again.

Transit guy from Colorado thinks it's a Microscope Ocular???? Okay. Another avenue to persue.
