That's a KILLER deal. If I didn't use the Mobius, I'd be all over that. You might want to jump on it yourself, Will. Would be nice to see you using that T2 on video Yes

I'm thinking about it. I don't know if I would actually use them.

It's funny, years ago I didn't even think about filming my videos...never even crossed my mind. Once I started doing it though, it became another obsession. It's to the point now, that if I DON'T capture a great find on film, I'm pissed. It's almost like I never found it, lol. It IS a double edged sword however, in that, while it adds another dimension to the hunt, and enables me (and others) to re-live the moment, it's a ROYAL pain-in-the-ass to have to come home, upload footage, edit, render the files, etc. My buddy Gerry thinks the camera is a jinx, as we've made some cool finds when I DIDN'T have it with us Chuckle

I see where you're coming from, Will, but it would be hard for me to ever go back to just posting photos alone. Sometimes that's all I can manage due to time, or being too tired though. Or if I don't have enough good finds to warrant a video. But most of the time I enjoy the video aspect tremendously.

Hey I did end up getting one of these camera glasses. They actually lowered the price again and I think I paid $52 for them shipped to store. I got them yesterday and me and Og tried them out at a little concert tonight. The picture quality is nice, but the audio sucks. Good enough for detecting videos I think. Not good for live music. Here is a sample video. This is Jill West and the Blues Attack. They opened for Quinn Sullivan. If you haven't heard of Quinn Sullivan I'm sure you will. He's a 16 year old blues guitar player/singer and he's awesome.

DAMN good video quality!!! And the sound is pretty good too, Will Yes To be fair, filming audio of a live band will produce so-so quality even under the best of circumstances, and using the best of equipment, so, that these glasses did that well is amazing.

I think they will be MORE than fine for filming your hunts. One piece of advice though...

If you're new to video editing, it can easily become a daunting, complicated distraction, if that kinda stuff isn't one's cup of tea. Keep it simple...especially in the beginning. Just upload your video, try to cut out any obvious dead footage (helps render the videos quicker), and then just place everything on the timeline in one, long clip. Adding transitions, titles, effects, etc., etc., etc. quickly becomes a drain, and isn't really necessary.

Glad you're on the video bandwagon now. Just wait, you'll see, it's going to bring an entirely new element to your hunts. It's really an AWESOME feeling when you're able to get a super find on a live dig. It's also nice to be able to watch your older videos during downtime and re-live the hunt again Yes

Now get out there and find some stuff!!!

Joe
Yeah these glasses should do fine for detecting videos. I think I'll give it a shot next time I get to swing. I have never edited a video. I'll have to figure that out. I have a 500 gb hard drive on my laptop, so memory space shouldn't be a problem. I have to play around with different clips and see how it turns out.

Good vid Will! How are they on close up? I get in pretty tight to the dig area because most of the time I am using the Hori Hori. Would love to see that in one of your vids!

Ed, most action cams are pre-calibrated for wide angle types of shots, which means that close-up's are not really their strong suit. Not to say some can't do close-up's at all, but the quality isn't going to be what one might expect when doing a tight/macro shot on a standalone, dedicated video camera. Making the coin/piece out on camera is certainly doable, but getting those crisp details, all of the nooks and crannies of something like with a true close-up shot is pretty tough. For what they are though, and how we use them, the images should be good enough for hunting videos.

Joe
I haven't tried doing a close up shot. I think it would be pretty good.

I haven't tried editing videos yet, but if you watch this one at 30 seconds in you will see my thumb right in front of the glasses(I was lighting a cigarette). You can see other stuff up close too.
