looks like scrap copper to me I save it all and separate it in 5 gal pails then turn it in
I dug a TON of that today. Pieces 2 or 3" long, all folded up, and were down about 8 to 10". They sound exactly like deep coins.

An unraveled casing to a 20, 16 or 12 ga. shotgun headstamp! Very carefully try and roll it back into its cylindrical shape and you'll see what I mean.
I thought that at first, but there is no lip and it has 2 notches on the one side. Will post better pic tomorrow after work.
