Found this last wkend at a county park. It's brass and was found around an old railroad junction/station from the late 1800's.
Yep you got it right I have found lots of them. They always give a good signal
Ya know, Dan Rice was from the area. I wonder if it's from his era. The Girard junction was 50 yards away, I did find old tracks about 10 inches down. One of those things that make ya wonder.
Could have been a RR camp or even a transient camp. I'd work that area hard PA!

I definitely will. I am going by topo maps and aerial photos to pin it down a little better. I have found maps from 1900 at the usgs site that helped ALOT. This weekend is my trip to a new permission about 1.5 hrs away, but my be untouched since the town was abandoned and the lake was built. Be a great summer project to get a bunch of us together, I'm not greedy and really don't mind sharing.
