Hey guy's.I'm new to metal detecting and would like to find someone from the New Jersey area who is a beginner, intermediate or someone who has been metal detecting for awhile to go metal detecting with. I'm open to any kind of detecting (relic/coins/ect) and also open to detect anywhere also(beach/park/private land.) I do have land we could detect on if that's what we choose to do(but would prefer something on public land first.) If my handle wasn't a dead giveaway, I'm from NJ, Zach. I'm north of you, though, right outside of NYC.
I've met up with a few members on here over the years, and love doing it, only complication is, it's customary for me to not know if I can go detecting until sometimes a few hours before, or the same day, as I'm employed in an on-call basis.

Yes I saw joe :p I know of a couple people from nj on here! But I wanted to put up the thread for them and possible others to message instead of me asking them personally. They'll all see it just like you did, I just didn't wanna be a possible bother.
I'm usually in quinton/salem area at my girlfriends house. Currently I'm unemployed so even a few hours notice would be fine. I will be starting the academy for corrections very soon though so my miniature vacation will be over around January

I know a few C.O.'s. Tough, tough job, but rewarding, and offers solid pay & benefits. Wish you luck with that. You're a haul from me, but a full day road trip might be nice. Let me see what I can swing

Zachb, I am from NJ I live close to the Holland Tunnel but traveling is where I am lacking these days - I just haven't traveled to detect in a very long while.
By the time to detect comes around I am too tired - I usually get out for only an hour or two at a local park or construction site.
If I do make it to AC on a bus trip I will keep you in mind for a beach hunt.
Yeah, for sure. AC is 40 minutes from my house so I'd be more than willing to meet up if you ever came to any south jersey beach! Pizza on me!
How in the hell do you live near AC and NOT go broke?! LOL. I used to play down there a lot, but there's no need to make the long trip anymore, as they now casinos in NY, PA, CT, etc. And I smartened up, and don't gamble much anymore.
When we meet up, remind me to tell you the story of when I snuck down to AC for some overnight Blackjack action, and my car broke down by Cheesequake coming home at like 5:30 in the morning. Not fun!!!

Because I need to spend all my money on Metal Detecting
...! And my girlfriend, Obviously. We went out to dinner today and it was a blast! Amazing restaurant. It's called macdonalds or something? Has a pretty good $1 menu. If I went and gambled all the time I wouldn't be able to do amazing stuff like that! So yeah, I just try and avoid it.
And if I went down and lost a bunch I'd probably get really upset and be like..wow. I could of bought so and so!
SO I just don't go.
