Full Version: Anyone have experience with hallmarks on watch cases (1800s)

Hey Guys, 
  Ron was thinking a watch casing back I found was silver...and I think he was right..looks solid not plated...
I just cleaned it up and found hallmarks on it:

Anyone seen anything from this maker perchance?
I know nothing about watches, however, my google search turned up this thread on a watch forum referencing eagle hallmarks. Interesting read. You might want to post it there, as I'm sure someone will be able to I.D. it fairly easily.

I couldn't find anything in connection with the 'S & H'.

Edinburgh 
The firm was established in 1820 and was active at 10A South St, Andrew St, Edinburgh as manufacturing and wholesale jewellers, watchmakers and silversmiths. The firm was incorporated into Henry Tatton & Son (Henry and Edward Tatton), c. 1930
