Hey all, I'm sharing James's updated find from last friday as its a oldie. This is the day I got the 1791-1792 french 3 deniers x2.
His coin was originally thought to be a king george the 2nd with the left facing bust...but with closer inspections...differences showed. Mainly the olive branch Britannia holds. Plus a few others. He was able to identify this coin as a king Charles the 2nd farthing from 1672-1679.
A beautiful old copper! Also, not to mention his 1830 half dime that day as well.
We'll deserved day for him.
Also shown is my lead trade weight I found with my charles the 1st 1625-1649 trade weight. I was told it wasn't necessarily a trade weight even though it was found next to a confirmed weight...I finally was able to weigh it, and it's coming up just under 4 ounces, 3.95 ounces, 1/4th of a lb.
I'm not able to make out any markings but I'm just gonna assume it's about the same age or even older maybe. 1/4th was a common sized weight used for lead weights. Glad to have both.
I will be getting out Thursday after all this rain with cassandra, I hope we have some finds to share.
Best of luck and happy hunting
