I put the jewelry loop on it and no markings. This piece is only 1" long and 5/8" wide so I don't think it's a broach, too small no clasp.
The big button has no marks anywhere after a mild cleaning, I have a small button that is nice and ornate after cleaning.

The small button is cool and the hosiery clip is broken right where the attachment goes one thing is you are talking old stuff 1740 - 1840 they didn't use the same pin attachments you are talking about, It was a small piece of silver that goes side ways it is just wrapped around on side and got stuck through cloth and put though the other side. Great find even though broke and missing attachment. If you decide to throw the hosiery clip toss it my way
It gets thrown in the display case ;-)
