This seems strange but I went to a beach and was metal detecting in the water with the Excal II. I've been there several times before as well as other detectorist. My excal seemed to be going deeper than ever before. Same settings, but everything was deep. I did find a mercury. Very tarnished! I tried the aluminum foil, hot mater and baking soda several times and it finally came clean!

That was a cheap ring but boy does the heart race when you pull the scoop up out of the water.
