1853 Gold Liberty Head dollar
1848 Mexican 8 Real
1856 Seated Half
1852 Seated Dime

The gold dollar is one of my most prized possessions.  I never thought I'd ever find one.
Holy crap!!! If I found all of those, I'd be content for the next 5 years, SLC! Were they part of a cache, or, all found separately? All found at the same spot?

Joe
Same area and within 2 months of each other last summer.  The Real and both seateds were found in a 3 foot area.  There was a saddle buckle with them.  Some poor bastard was probably sick to his stomach over losing them.  The gold was mixed in with at least 50 square nails.  I went over it several times knowing it was iron but kept hearing a faint blip so I dug it and right under the nails was that coin.  Those gold dollars are 3/4 the size of a half dime.  Tiny.

WOW! We miss soooooooo much due to masking Wink What machine were you running? I'd venture to say it wasn't a Minelab, as those aren't really great in iron. F75, Gold Bug?

Yep, somebody had a very bad day after losing all that $$$!

Killer stuff, SLC...thanks for posting Yes

Joe
I was using the F75 then.

This isn't my best find but I love the way it looked after it came out of the ground.  Was lost or thrown away in the summer of 1858.
General Service button.
Man, you guys are killing me. It's night here, but, I feel like running outside in my Batman & Robin underoos and going detecting!!! Terrific Yes Great quality pic too, what camera are you using, SLC?

Joe
Believe it or not, iPhone 5.
This is one of my best finds of 2013. Here's the story...

I stumbled upon an old picnic grove while driving to another hunting spot one day. It turned out being one of the best places I've ever detected. I pulled from there: seated quarter, seated dime, large cent, mercs, Indians, buffalos, and my favorite piece...

An 1883 2 lire from Italy. I found it at the base of a tree, and it gave off the sweetest tone I've ever heard. As with most of my good finds, this baby was mixed up in some roots (I love roots!). This thing had to be dropped in 1883 or 1884 by someone just off the boat from the old country, as the detail is spectacular.

Joe
Wow, that is a great find. Beautiful condition.
That is really cool.  I can't believe how much detail is on the back!  That crown is awesome on there.
